Global Compliance & Corporate Governance

Institutional Standards in International Trade

MECi Trade is committed to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and legal adherence. As a merchant trading house operating across major global financial hubs, including MENA and the Mediterranean regions, we maintain a robust Compliance Framework designed to mitigate risk and ensure the long-term security of our supply chains, financial partners, and industrial clients.

We operate in strict accordance with international trade laws, anti-money laundering (AML) mandates, and specialised regulatory frameworks governing the movement of petrochemicals and industrial raw materials.

The KYC (Know Your Counterparty) Protocol

In alignment with Tier-1 banking requirements and international trade best practices, MECi Trade enforces a mandatory “Know Your Counterparty” (KYC) protocol. We do not engage with unverified entities or individuals.

Phase 1: Identity & Legal Verification

All prospective suppliers and buyers must submit a formal Company Profile (CP) and Certificate of Incorporation.

We verify:

Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO): Identification of all parties with >10% control.

Corporate Authority: Verification of authorised signatories and power of attorney.

Financial Standing: Bank Comfort Letters (BCL) or audited financial statements for high-volume procurement.

Phase 2: Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)

For transactions involving cross-border logistics through transit hubs (e.g., Turkey/CIS/EMEA), we conduct mid-level and enhanced screening:
Adverse Media & Reputation: Continuous monitoring via global risk databases.

Watchlist Screening: Real-time checks against UN, OFAC, and EU restrictive measures lists.

Operational Capacity: Verifying the physical ability of the counterparty to fulfill delivery or conversion obligations.

Regulatory & Sanctions Compliance

MECi Trade maintains a proactive stance on global trade governance. Our legal team continuously monitors legislative updates to ensure our operations remain fully compliant with evolving international mandates.

Trade Policy Adherence

Sanctions Mitigation: We utilise screening practices to prevent direct or indirect engagement with sanctioned entities, designated nationals, or restricted territorial jurisdictions.

Dual-Use Goods: Rigorous classification to ensure no restricted or dual-use materials are diverted to unauthorised end-users or jurisdictions..

Jurisdictional Integrity: We ensure all tax and customs filings are executed in accordance with the relevant laws in the regions of our operations.

Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & CTF

We strictly prohibit any form of money laundering or the financing of terrorism.

Payment Verification: We only accept/issue payments to and from verified bank accounts held in the name of the contracted entity.

Zero-Cash Policy: All transactions must flow through the regulated banking system.

Quality & Chain-of-Custody Governance

Beyond financial compliance, we enforce “Product Governance” to ensure the physical integrity of our supply chain.

  1. Origin Traceability: We maintain meticulous records of the product journey from the manufacturing site to the final converter.
  2. SGS/Intertek Integration: Physical inspection is a mandatory component of our compliance cycle, ensuring the technical grade of the material matches the documentary declaration.
  3. Commercial Confidentiality & Brand Integrity: We respect the commercial sensitivities of our partners. While we strictly adhere to all mandatory country-of-origin labelling laws and customs declarations, we offer customised packaging solutions (including private labelling) for the final market presentation, provided all regulatory requirements are met.

Ethics & Environment

Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward bribery, kickbacks, or any unethical influence in our procurement processes. MECi Trade operates in alliance with internationally recognised standards such as the UK Bribery Act and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).

Environmental Stewardship

We prioritise partnerships with production complexes that implement modern environmental management systems, such as ISO 14001 and work toward reducing the carbon footprint of polymer logistics.
